The Spirit of the United Parish
The United Parish affirms Jesus Christ as the center of life. We seek to be a place where people can search, explore, and grow in their faith, where people who wish to do so can engage in critical thinking about their faith. We do not hope to achieve strict uniformity in the articulation of our faith. We do not simply wish to repeat without examination the expressions of faith of an earlier time, nor to adopt and affirm the latest trends or beliefs of our society simply because they happen to be popular. We highly value the Christian education of children, youth, and adults. Our goal in Christian education is to work toward a commitment to Jesus Christ that is authentic and internalized and not simply the repeating of formulations that are perceived to be correct. We seek to have growth in the Christian faith occur in an obviously loving Christian community of faith, a community that also engages in concrete acts of service to the community and world.
