Jeri Fields, Gap Pastor, 2012

Pastor Jeri Fields

The Rev. Jeri A. Fields is a Chaplain with the Fairfax County Police Department and has served as the Associate Pastor of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, VA. Prior to ordination in 2002, she worked in Prince William County Public Schools, primarily in the areas of Special Education and Student Services Administration and Supervision. She attended Union College in Barbourville, KY, received her MA from the University of Virginia, and her MDiv from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. She is actively involved in National Capital Presbytery as a liaison to a Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC), will serve as the 2012 Chair for the Committee on Representation, and is frequently invited to fill the pulpit when pastors are on leave. She is a Stephen Minister Leader.

Pastor Jeri has provided workshops throughout the area on such topics as working with people who have special needs, domestic violence awareness, disaster preparedness, and critical incident stress management. This past September she was part of the disaster rescue and recovery efforts when the Huntington area of Fairfax County flooded. Recently, she has had the opportunity to become involved in conversations with wounded warriors and is working with a grass roots group in identifying ways to afford opportunities for them to share their stories.

Pastor Jeri will serve as Gap Pastor to the United Parish starting January 8, 2012. Her primary role for the next few months will be to lead worship, provide pastoral care, and to work with the Board to facilitate the process of identifying an Interim Minister. She looks forward to meeting the members and friends of United Parish Bowie and engaging in conversation with each.
